Job Description:

This Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting tests to determine whether the product meets customer specifications and the quality of unfinished and finished products. The Quality Assurance Tech has the authority to put the product on hold until further approval, if necessary.

  • Perform routine operations required to operate and adjust machines to produce quality material.
  •  Work from specific team leader/supervisor instructions, standard operating procedures, and precise product specification sheets in the routine operation and adjustment of multiple machines running multiple products.
  • Perform set-ups and changeovers based on prescribed procedures and production demands.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift as assigned (once qualified).
  • Perform tests on finished products to ensure the quality and conformance of the product’s specified tolerances. Areas inspected include length and width, and overall appearance.
  • Perform leak audits according to standardized procedures and simple calculations to record results (for consumer bags).
  • Make routine adjustments to machines to correct minor deviations from tolerances.
  • Diagnose routine problems, detect causes, and perform corrective adjustments.
  • Work from specific instructions, standard operating procedures, and precise specification sheets.
  • Routine operation and adjustment of multiple machines simultaneously producing multiple products.

Overall Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete quality checks and required paperwork on finished products.
  • Operate and adjust machines to produce quality products.
  • Perform set-ups and changeovers based on prescribed procedures and production demand.
  • Use a ruler, retractable knives, hook knives, and various hand tools.
  • Perform quality tests on the finished product to ensure quality and conformance to specified tolerances. Verify length and width, and overall appearance.
  • Perform leak audits and simple calculations to record results.
  • Make routine machine adjustments to correct minor deviations from tolerance.
  • Diagnose routine problems, detect causes, and perform required machine adjustments. Ensure GMP is exerted throughout the production process
  • Ensure the production process follows SQF Code
  • Communicate to supervision when a product does not meet specifications and/or quality standards. 
  • Work from specific team leader/supervisor instructions, standard operating procedures, and precise product specification sheets with multiple machines running multiple products.
  • Use a ruler, retractable knives, hook knives, and various hand tools.
  • Perform quality tests on unfinished and finished products to ensure the quality of the product and conformance to specified tolerances. Areas of inspection include but are not limited to:
  • length and width, overall appearances, and others.
  • Perform leak audits according to standardized procedures and perform simple calculations to record results (for consumer bags).
  • Recommend routine machine adjustments to correct minor deviations from tolerance.
  • Diagnose routine problems, detect causes, and recommend required machine adjustments.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Good communication and team working skills
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in manufacturing.
  • 1-year minimum knowledge of GMP
  • 1-year experience operating machinery/equipment preferred
  • Able to accurately perform Ruler measurements
  • Able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Self-directed multitasker.
  • Follow written and verbal directions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to lift 35 lbs.
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Clean Background

  • Must be at least 18 years old

Physical requirements:

  • Bending at waist level
  • Able to keep up with production line(s).
  • Able to assist co-workers when needed and keep the work area neat and clean.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Stooping, bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine and waist
  • Crouching, bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and spine.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position, or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Able to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palms.
  • Feeling to perceive attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas through the spoken word; via face-to-face or telephone.
  • Hearing, and perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions are substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
