Jobsite Location: Miami Lakes, FL

The Stripping Technician is responsible for disassembling and preparing electric motor and generator components before the rewind process. This role involves the safe removal of old winding materials, varnish, insulation, and other contaminants using approved chemical and mechanical methods, ensuring all parts are properly cleaned, inspected, and ready for subsequent repair and rewind operations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely strip and clean electrical components, including stators, rotors, armatures, and coils, in accordance with established repair and overhaul procedures.
  • Operate ovens, chemical tanks, media blasting equipment, and standard hand tools to remove varnish, epoxy, and insulation materials.
  • Identify and tag parts accurately to maintain traceability and part integrity throughout the stripping and rewind process.
  • Perform visual inspections of components for damage or defects and report findings to the Production Supervisor or Engineering team.
  • Follow all FAA, EASA, and company quality standards, ensuring compliance with repair manuals, work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborate with Rewind and Assembly teams to ensure smooth workflow and efficient turnaround times.
  • Handle and dispose of chemicals and waste materials in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to efficiency, quality, and safety within the department.

Experience Preferred 

  • Previous experience in motor rewind, electrical repair, or aerospace component repair.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 145 repair station procedures.
  • Experience with chemical stripping tanks or burn-out ovens.

Job Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow work instructions.
  • Understanding hand tools, grinders, and other shop equipment.
  • Ability to work in a production environment involving heat, chemicals, and manual labor.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Tolerance for exposure to heat, fumes, and industrial chemicals (with proper PPE).
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail are required for handling small components.
